La produzione delle barbabietole - The production of beets

La barbabietola è una pianta da orto, coltivata in campo; la coltivazione ha durata biennale: nel primo anno abbiamo un accumulo delle sostanze zuccherine nella radice, mentre nel secondo abbiamo l'ottenimento delle tante varietà ibride trapiantando le piante sterili, che saranno quelle colte. Negli ultimi anni, l'OGM ha permesso un grande abbattimento dei costi nella produzione. In Italia, il prezzo finale troppo basso ha causato una crisi di settore, causando la chiusura di molti stabilimenti.

Beetroot is a vegetable plant, cultivated in the ground; cultivation lasts two years: the first year we have an accumulation of sugars in the root, while in the second we obtain the many hybrid varieties transplanting the sterile  plants, those who will be gathered. In recent years, the GMOs have allowed a great reduction of costs in the production. In Italy, the final price is too low, this caused a crisis in the sector, resulting in the closure of many factories.
